Archimedes Project is proud to announce a partnership with Umande Trust. Umande Trust is a multifaceted organization seeking to provide increased access to adequate sanitation to Kenyans. They do this in myriad ways, but two of the most important are through the construction of bio-centers and through rights advocacy.
Umande has constructed over 52 bio-centers in Nairobi and Kisumu. These centers provide jobs, access to affordable sanitation, a clean energy source (biogas), and information to the communities in which they are situated.
Their latest undertaking has them tackling the task of integrating women into Kenyan politics. By training women to become spokespeople for their communities— what they call “women voices champions” — Umande is seeking to add new thoughts, sourced from women, to the ongoing conversations regarding governance, transparency, accountability and anti-corruption. Umande’s bio-centers are the host sites for this project.
It is an honor for us to be able to work with Umande Trust at our Ideation Lab in March! Join us and learn more.
